I’ve been to England twice, the first time was with an aunt and my mother to accompany my grandmother as it was her last time being able to visit her homeland. The second was a few years later after my grandmother’s death, as we delivered her ashes to Yorkshire to be buried with her parents. During both trips, we stayed with family in devon and yorkshire and I learnt family history that I’ve never heard before. Created new bonds with english cousins that still remain strong to this day. In fact, this upcoming summer in July 2017, I will be heading back for my third time because one my cousin’s is having her wedding.
York Minister (Yorkshire)
Perhaps one of the England’s oldest churches. Believed to have taken over 250 years to build between 1220 and 1472. Not only is it a medieval cathedral but remains of a Roman ceremonial centre were discovered underneath the great building.
Okehampton Castle (Devon)
Created after the Norman conquest and then used for various reasons afterwards, the castle is known as one of the largest within Devon. However, today it’s destroyed and only has ruins. The site allows people to explore and have picnics along the side if they wish. Stunning views as you directly stand on history.

Personally, I find the countryside quite friendly and harmless. If visiting major cities, beware of pickpockets as they target noticeable tourists. Make sure to pack an umbrella and/or rain coat, especially if visiting during the springtime or fall.
